Tilton School

A Supportive, Therapeutic Learning Environment for Grades K–12

Tilton School provides a structured, NYSED-certified educational program for students in grades K–12 who benefit from small class sizes, individualized instruction, and a therapeutic school setting. Our goal is to help every student grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

Our School Structure

Tilton East – Grades K–8
Tilton West – Grades 9–12

Across both programs, students participate in core academics as well as:
Physical Education, Music, Art, Computers, Library, Home & Careers, and Health.

Who We Serve

We serve 70–90 youth each year through a supportive, 12-month educational program that offers a full NYS Regents-based curriculum. For students on the diploma track, we provide the opportunity to earn a high school diploma. Our program includes youth from our residential campus as well as more than 40 students from local school districts.

  • Guidance Counselor
  • School Psychologist
  • CSE Chairperson
  • Related service providers

Incentive & Leadership Programs

Token System & Store

Students earn weekly tokens for positive behavior, kindness, effort, and goal achievement. Tokens can be exchanged every Friday at the Token Store.

Peer Mentoring Program

Students may apply and train to become Peer Mentors, supporting classmates with friendship, emotional regulation, and positive choices. Mentors also participate in community projects such as:

  • Adopt-a-Highway
  • Visiting nursing homes
  • Flag placement for veterans

Sanctuary Café (High School)

High school students can participate in the Sanctuary Café, a Friday incentive space where eligible students use earned “Trailblazer Bucks” for snacks, lunch, and social time.

Snack Sack Program

Day Service students receive a bag of non-perishable food every Friday to support weekend nutrition needs. The program is fully staffed by a team that prepares and distributes bags weekly.
