Providing Care Cases to Foster Care
About eight years ago, Brittany Emery, a previous Foster Family Specialist, called HGS. She could not stop thinking about the children placed into foster care with nothing but the clothes on their backs. After much reflection, she decided that she needed to help.
Brittany came up with the idea to form a not-for-profit organization called Care Cases. Care Cases encourages the community to donate products to children in foster care. She works with her church and other local churches to provide these cases. Each backpack has items like toothpaste, toothbrushes, snacks, blankets, pillows, and some other first-day types of items. Brittany has also been able to secure grants to help in her journey!
This incredible idea has blossomed into something extraordinary and has helped children feel more secure in a time of so much uncertainty. There are times when the children are utterly amazed that they can keep all the items and bags. Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions, Brittany could not take in the donations and deliver them, but now she can and looks forward to bringing the bags to HGS once again!
