It’s Foster Care Month – Meet Our Staff Day 14

It's Foster Care Month! Meet Foster Care Primary Therapist, Jaclyn Bogdan!

What is your Job title?

Primary Therapist, MSW

What is it exactly that you do?

As a Primary Therapist, completing treatment plans, psychosocial assessments and other documentation are my primary responsibilities at the initial assignment of a client. I provide individual therapy to our children as well as families as needed. During therapy, I am able to help clients identify healthy coping skills, assist in processing through their trauma and gain insight into positive decision making. Therapy is also a safe space for many of my clients where they are able to openly discuss any issues or concerns they may be experiencing without judgment.

What is your favorite part about your Job?

My favorite part of being a therapist is seeing children grow before my own eyes. It is the most rewarding feeling to witness clients gain self awareness and implement healthy coping skills while in times of distress.

What is a success story that you can remember that made you feel accomplished in your role?

A moment I will forever remember was being able to experience one of my teenagers openly express himself with confidence to his mother about his feelings. He struggled significantly with self identify and lack of confidence and was able to strongly voice his thoughts and opinions in an appropriate manner in which he was unable to do before.
