What a month it was for Najuan in Watertown!

Last month, he and his two brothers were adopted by the Bellinger - Abel family! His mom, Sarah has been a foster parent with HGS for years and has adopted 10 children during that time. She is super proud of Najuan for his athletic achievements.

Sarah tells us, "He will be going to the NYS championship in the 126# class in Manheim, PA on April 2nd. (NY doesn't allow wrestling championships right now.)

"Najuan will then be traveling, along with his team, to Virginia Beach on April 23rd for National Wrestling Championships. He will compete individually and in conjunction with his team from Blackbelt Academy (of Watertown). We've decided to take the whole family to Nationals to cheer him on! His current stats are 64-30. He has won a Section III Class B wrestling championship, the Port Bryon Midwinter Classic title, and a Frontier League tournament. Najuan is known for his 'Firemen's Carry.'"

Najuan took a moment from his busy schedule (he was on the way to tour Elmira College during this interview!) to say, "I am honored and enthused to be able to represent my area and my club in States. With COVID, I had about given up on any wrestling championships. I'm excited to compete."

Najuan, you have a fan club from Watertown to Utica! We are all cheering for your success!
