Reading to the kittens!
For several of our HGS kids, reading to a few furry friends from Spring Farm Cares
was the cat's meow!
Assistant Principal Sarah Clayton happened to hear about a program at Spring Farm Cares, an animal sanctuary in Clinton, called "Purrfect Pals and Purrfect Readers," so she emailed them for more information. Sarah Clayton along with Teacher Sara Engell decided to take a few of the students to check it out, and it was paws-itively awesome!
"It is an opportunity for the children to sit and read to the cats," Sarah explained. "The program is for adults or children to come in and bond with the cats, make a new friend, read to them or just talk and play with them."
The kids were able to feel safe and comforted while reading to a new furry friend. It was a fun and therapeutic experience for them.
