SOLD OUT EVENT RAISES $92,000!
July 6, 2015
Because of you, we had our most successful event ever. With a full playing course at 36 teams, we worked hard to ensure a smooth registration process and speed of play. During registration, players received a voucher where they next visited our "pop-up shops" to select their gift. This year's "shopping" experience included Fitbits, Titleist Vokey Wedges, and Voice Caddies. These special tee package gifts were made possible by the generosity of Caruso McLean Investment Advisors, Crystal Springs Golf Club, and Deer Run Golf Facility. After registration was complete, players ate lunch, practiced putting, grabbed a Bloody Mary from Ventura's Restaurant, and found their carts full of snacks and beverages.
The course was packed with food and beverage stations (colossal shrimp, beef tips, fresh fruit) and an Under Armour tent where players received a pullover jacket. Course events included longest drive, closest to the pin and putting contests, and hole-in-one events. Shotgun start began promptly at 12:30 pm. A cocktail reception followed play where players enjoyed an open bar, a raw bar and steamed clams while listening to a live performance by local musician Ryan Quinn. Dinner and Award Ceremony began at 6:30. Executive Director Bob Roberts addressed the banquet room and thanked the players, sponsors, volunteers and staff making note that last year's tournament helped rebuild a baseball field and basketball court on campus, as well as helping repaint the interior of four residential cottages. He recollected a story of a child asking him for a new mattress to sleep on, and after learning that the mattresses were over 20 years-old, Bob had them all replaced. The money raised this year, will also go to benefit the health and wellness of the children at The House. Please read Raj's story and find out how sports helped create a sense of self-esteem, leadership, and teamwork.
