The House has been changing children's lives since 1872.
-The teacher will construct and implement a well-planned instructional program based on New York State Standards. The program will encompass the needs of the individual learner and prepare the students for future success. The goal of the teacher is to prepare the student to return back into a least restricted educational setting.
-Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or Elementary Education with the expectation of pursuing a Master's Degree in Special Education.
-Develop lesson plans and deliver instruction based on New York State Learning Standards curriculum that meet students; academic instructional needs and various learning styles.
-Participate actively in the treatment aspect, development and evaluation of student behavioral and academic goals for assigned students;.
-Evaluate, monitor and document students; behavioral and academic progress.
-Exhibit the leadership skills necessary to actively support, direct, supervise and evaluate teaching assistants in a team oriented setting.
-Participate in various professional development opportunities.
-Maintain a safe and successful classroom environment.
-Direct and participate in use of assigned students’ IBSA’s, ICMP’s, IEP and Safety and Treatment Plan.
-Knowledge of writing and following lesson plans on daily/weekly basis.
-Ability to use and understand various assessment tools.
-Good verbal and written communication skills.
-Organized and efficient classroom management skills.
-Knowledge of behavior modifications and positive reinforcement skills.
-Valid driver’s license preferred.
-Knowledge of recreational, sports and summer youth activities.
-Current certification in First Aid and CPR preferred.
-Good interpersonal skills.
